The 2009 NCTA Championships will serve as the team trials for the 2009 US Pan American Collegiate Taekwondo Championships Sparring Team. For the full selection procedures, click here.

The NCTA Championships will also serve as the qualifier for the 2009 US World University Games Sparring Team Trials. The selection procedures for that team can be found by clicking here. The date and location of the 2009 US World University Games Sparring Team Trials will be announced at a later time.

There will be a high school division sparring division at these championships. The winner of the high school sparring division will qualify for the 2009 US World University Games Sparring Team Trials, along with the top four medalists from the black belt collegiate sparring divisions.

The US Summer World University Games Poomsae Team trials will be held at the same weekend and location as the 2009 NCTA Championships. There will be a separate entry fee for that event. Competitors should be able to compete in both the2009 NCTA Championships and the poomsae team trials without conflict. High schools students meeting the eligibility requirements may compete in the Poomsae Team trials.

Women's Team Category (three competitors)

Competitors need in the team categories not be from the same college or university. Following FISU rules, there are no weight divisions for the US poomsae team trials, and no age divisions beyond the eligibilty requirements listed below.

 

ELIGIBILITY Age Eligibility:

Athletes participating at the championships must be born between January 1,
1981 and December 31, 1991.

Collegiate Eligibility:

All students must be either:

1) A full-time college students for Spring 2009 in a 2 or 4-year accredited university,

OR

2) Have graduated from an accredited 2-year, 4-year, or graduate program in 2008 or 2009,

OR

3) Have been accepted as a degree-seeking student for Fall Term 2009
at a 2 or 4-year accredited college or university (typically high school seniors).

Those students in the third category are only eligible to compete in

1) A high school sparring division for those athletes trying to
qualify for the 2009 US National World University Games Team Trials in sparring,

OR
