Competition Rules

The 2011 National Collegiate Taekwondo Championships will follow the latest USAT rules with additional eligibility requirements.
Poomsae competition will be judged using the revised WTF criteria. It is the duty of both competitors and coaches to read and understand the rules.
The NCTA team for the summer World University Games will be selected via these procedures.

Eligibility

Age	Black belt sparring competitors must be born between January 1st, 1983 and December 31st, 1993. (Must be at least 17 and less than 28 years of age on January 1st, 2011).
Citizenship	Black belt sparring competitors must show proof of United States citizenship. A copy of a US passport, birth certificate, or naturalization papers are the only acceptable forms of proof and should be submitted with eligibility forms.
Student Status	All competitors must either: 1. be registered for at least 6 units of classes during the Spring 2011 term in an accredited 2-year, 4-year, or graduate college or university. Current students must submit a certification form or a letter from the college or university on that school's letterhead which includes all requested information. The certification must be produced and dated after January 30th, 2011. Photocopies for the certification of collegiate status will not be accepted. A student ID is not sufficient. 2. have graduated from an accredited 2-year, 4-year, or graduate college or university in 2010 or 2011. Graduates must submit an official transcript.

Equipment

Gear	All uniforms and gear must follow standard WTF rules. Competitors are required to have: • Standard white, V-neck taekwondo uniform (black trim for black belts only) in good condition. • Properly-fitting WTF foam head gear, with no damage or cracks. • Foam or vinyl shin protector and forearm guard. Forearm guards with hand protectors attached are not allowed. • WTF-approved gloves. (Not mandatory for color belts.) • Groin protection (required for males), worn under uniform. • Mouth guard. • Colored belts must have their own red/blue hogus (chest protectors). Head gear and gloves can be white, red, or blue. If not white, they must correspond to the color of the chest gear.
Electronic Gear	The black belt division will use LaJust electronic sensor hogu. Black belt athletes must have their own LaJust electronic sock protectors. They may be purchased at LaJustSports.com.
Taping	All taping must be signed off on by medical staff.
